This page is dedicated to all the dogs that never thought they would be adopted.  The following dogs all had special issues or were older.  We always believed that one day their forever home would come and we were right.  Nothing can express the emotions you feel when you see that one dog walk out the door with their new family . Joy, Happiness and yes a little bit of sadness to see they won't be with us .However, nothing can compare with the wag of the tail and wiggle of the body as they leave with a new family that has the biggest smile on their faces.  We wish the families and our special guys all the best in the world .

Tiger has found a happy home. Tiger had a world of obstacles to overcome. He was a powerful dog that many people were scared of. Luckily, his new owners say the other side of Tiger, the loving, athletic and affectionate Tiger. Tiger will truly be remembered as one of AWS Finest!

"When all others had lost doubt, we continued to believe, hope, and wish that Tiger would find his match, and now he has."

Daphney was a very special and dear girl to us.  She had been adopted out and without telling us the adopter gave her away. The person who they gave her to didn't watch her and she was hit by a car.  We got the call from the vet and she came back to us.   She had some very ugly wounds but her spirit was always there.  One day a wonderful man came thru the door and saw her.  With tears in his eyes he held her gently and they went home .   She lives her forever life with him and his aunt and they are truly a special home
If you are interested in any of the animals featured on this website or would like to meet some of the residents not featured, drop by the shelter or contact us for more information. They would love to meet you!

Wednesday , now known as Grace, was saved by a wonderful person.  She was abused and her leg was shattered and her ribs were broken. But her spirit never was.  She truly loved everyone she came in to contact with.  Her new parents are just as kind and loving as her . With them by her side she is sure to find out what a Wonderful World this place truly is
That is right, Pearl has gone home. A wonderful dog who had been in the shelter since April of 2006 she has found her forever home. Pearl came to AWS underweight and in need of love. She left with a new lease on life and a bundle of joy. It brings joy to all of the Staff and Volunteers at AWS to say Pearl is in her new home. Pearl once thought to be an unplaceable dog is now in her forever home!

" It is sweet sorrow to see a much loved dog like Pearl go home. She meant so much to so many. Now she can mean so much to a special family."

Mork , what can you say about a dog who truly was loved by us all.  We are so happy to see him in a new home, but we will miss our Mork and his daily howls to remind us it is dinner time and that his special treat has not been delivered to his bed yet.  In our hearts we know that his new family has a wonderful boy who will let them know when they have forgotten to give him his treat.
Millie and Bertie have gone home and we can't more happy.  They have a huge human family to love them and give them lots of attention.  These girls showed everyone just how wonderful it is to be with  seniors.  How they can make you laugh and sit back and enjoy life.
Otis was a great boy who never changed from his quiet and gentle demeanor.  He knew what made him happy and he stuck by it.  His new owner was a volunteer walker who truly appreciated and fell in love with him.  He is enjoying his new home and both couldn't be happier.
Brownie
Brownie has decided that the best home for her is with us.   A wonderful person took her home to live and Brownie was so unsettled that she came back to us.  While we so wanted her to have a home as we know it, she decided that she had a home already.  We just didn't see it.  She is so happy to have her big kennel with her double bed, she loves walking down the kennels every morning past the other dogs to go out in the play yard.  Its as if she is saying " I am the queen here and this is my due"   She waits patiently for the biscuit that she gets going in and out of that door.  Upon finishing her inspection of the play yard she then lets us know it is time for breakfast or dinner and she is a little miffed that it is not ready yet.   After she is done she is impatiently telling us that dessert ( a pigs ear is her choice) is due her.  Then she settles down and says okay you may now go on to the others.   In this case Brownie Knows Best!!!!
